Packaging Innovations 2023 | Robinson underscores investment

At this week’s show in Birmingham, plastics and board packaging producer Robinson (stand F96) will have plenty of evidence to hand of how its investment and sustainability strategies are progressing, while emphasising the benefits of sourcing from the UK.

Late last year, the company announced investment of over £500,000 in new SATE box-making equipment at its Chesterfield Paperbox plant. Robinson said this offered clear customer advantages in terms of capacity and finished product quality.

Customers appear happy, too, with the converter’s FSC-certified board and wider sustainability efforts. Managing director at Holdsworth Chocolates David Sharples underlined his own brand’s insistence on “the finest of everything”. “That’s why it’s so important that we invest in high-quality sustainable packaging that reflects our values, too,” he said.

Robinson has identified ‘on-shoring’ as a trend in the packaging supply chain, estimating that sourcing from a trusted UK supplier can save customers up to 12 weeks’ lead time, when compared with a shipment of packaging from the Far East.

Multinational customers include Unilever, Procter & Gamble and Reckitt Benckiser. With its headquarters in Chesterfield, Robinson has five plants across the UK, Poland and Denmark.
